Old Crossing Treaty Gathering & Canoe Journey 2024
A Celebration of History, Land, and Water
The Old Crossing Treaty Gathering and Canoe Journey was a transformative event that brought together members of the Red Lake and Pembina Band communities, along with the public, to honor the 1863 Old Crossing Treaty. This meaningful experience connected participants to the land and water, fostering community spirit and reflecting on our shared responsibilities to preserve these sacred resources.

Reflections and Looking Ahead
This event was not just about revisiting history—it was about building a future where the land, water, and treaty rights are honored for generations to come. The inaugural canoe journey marked the beginning of a larger effort to restore eco-cultural pathways on the 1863 treaty ceded lands and ensure that the health of these resources supports all life that depends on them.
